Woodland Blades brings together ancient pattern-welded metallurgical discipline and contemporary ergonomic finishing to create distinctive pieces built around character, structural poise, and enduring presentation.
We forge alternating billets of 1095 high-carbon steel and 15N20 nickel alloy under extreme heat and hydraulic pressure, repeatedly folding the billet until hundreds of distinct micro-layers emerge. The result is a living tapestry of steel that offers remarkable edge retention, fracture toughness, and singular beauty.

Anatomy of Our Damascus
Authentic pattern-welded Damascus steel is neither printed nor stamped. It is born from repeated forge-welds of high-carbon 1095 and high-nickel 15N20 steels, followed by controlled ferric chloride etching that reveals the contrast between elements.
Dual-Alloy Matrix
The 1095 high-carbon steel forms hard iron carbides for razor sharpness, while the 15N20 nickel alloy yields impact flexibility that resists chipping.
Cryogenic Tempering
Following high-temperature quenching, each blade undergoes sub-zero cryogenic stabilization to convert retained austenite into ultra-stable martensite.
Vacuum Resin Stabilization
Natural burl woods, spalted maple, and ancient mammoth ivory handles are infused under vacuum with deep curing resins to prevent shrinkage, swelling, or water intrusion.
